The Art of Pitching

Professor Yellen

Looking back on the Art of Pitching class, it was definitely the right way to kick off the semester. Professor Yellen brought so much energy to every session, and it really made me excited about the whole process of pitching, even though it’s something I’ve always been nervous about. The biggest takeaway for me was realizing how much I need to practice and rehearse before ever stepping into a real pitch meeting. It’s nerve-wracking, but I know with enough preparation, I’ll feel more confident.

As for the pitch deck, this was my first time putting one together, and I really appreciated how helpful Yellen was. He gave me some great advice, especially about creating the right look and feel to represent the movie I was pitching. One of the best pieces of feedback was about simplifying the target audience section—he pointed out that I was over-explaining and that all I needed was a clear age range and gender.

That tip really helped me streamline the deck and make it more focused. In the end, I put together a pitch deck I’m proud of and can use as a template for future projects.
