Developing the Story:
At the start of the semester, we were tasked with coming up with three different TV series ideas. Our classmates reviewed them and voted for their favorites. Initially, I planned to go with the class favorite, which was set in a magical world—something I wasn’t very familiar with writing about. But as I thought more about my ideas, I realized the class favorite wasn’t my favorite. So, I spoke with Professor Modoono about switching my idea, and he approved it. After that, I dove headfirst into developing this new world. The whole process was creative and a lot of fun!
Character Bios:
My favorite part of developing this story was creating the character biographies. I’ve never created a TV series before, let alone a story with more than four characters, so this was a completely new experience for me. It was exciting to dive into each character and give them rich, detailed backgrounds that added depth and complexity to the story. I enjoyed thinking about who they are, what motivates them, and how their pasts shaped the people they’ve become. Bringing these characters to life felt like building an intricate puzzle, where each piece contributed to the larger world of the series.
Funny enough, one of Professor Modoono’s comments on my first draft was that I included way too much detail! While he appreciated the depth, he pointed out that others might get lost in it—which really shows just how into it I got! This process wasn’t just fun; it also taught me a lot about balancing creativity with clarity, and it deepened my appreciation for how much work goes into crafting a great story.
